Our Mission
From farm and ranch to processor and supermarket, Texas agriculture faces unabated change. The way that agriculture changes in response to current forces such as environmentalism, new technologies, consumer issues, governmental regulation and global markets will profoundly impact the industry for years to come. Given the critical issues facing agriculture today, there is a need to provide intensive leadership development experiences for a promising new generation of leaders. The TALL program was established to improve in these areas and that is why the program stands strong today.
TALL will create a cadre of Texas leaders to help ensure effective understanding and encourage positive action on key issues, theories, policy and economics that will advance the agricultural industry.
Support
The TALL program is conducted by the Texas AgriLife Extension, an agency of The Texas A&M System. This intensive leadership development program also depends on the backing of individuals in agriculture, agriculture-related industries and public-spirited citizens. We invite you to consider participating or encouraging others to join us in providing support for the Texas Agricultural Lifetime Leadership program. Thank you to our investors!
TALL-A members can also give back to the TALL program by hosting class visits, sponsoring meals and refreshments, and attending local receptions.
Activities
Austin Reception
TALL-A sponsors a reception during each TALL class’ session in Austin. The reception gives the class a chance to meet legislators, the TALL Advisory Board, representatives of producer organizations and state agencies, as well as many Alumni members. It is also an opportunity to recognize outstanding achievements and sponsorships.
2010 awards:
- TALL Lifetime Leadership Award was presented to Former US Congressman Larry Combest of Lubbock in recognition of his achievements in agriculture.
- TALL Alumnus of the Year was awarded to Clint Robinson of Lubbock.
- Plaques in appreciation were presented to TALL sponsors for their 2010 support of the program.
Annual Meetings
TALL-A conducts annual meetings during the Austin session and also when each class graduates. Business is conducted and speakers present updates on legislation, agriculture, natural resources and national security.
